In Public Relations, many professionals deal with the reality that, no matter how fantastic their stories are, many of them either end up in the trash or shelved for the distant future. When the submitted article is tossed, the message of the article is not being received as you intended. So how do you get your articles submitted and published?

You use online PR tactics using the advantages of the internet. Set up your own site to allow the internet world access to your articles. Make the site media friendly enabling you to get your message to the masses.

Start out by planning the design and layout including all the content for the website. Use one of the most widely used techniques of reviewing a competitor’s site to gain some ideas that you can incorporate to your site that will make it more effective. Look at several different sites to gather different ideas.

The construction of the web content is crucial for the projection of the site on the web and to increase website traffic. The search engines use the content to locate the site within all of the other millions of websites relating to the same product or business. The better you write the content the more you will have higher rankings with the search engines. Remember to keep the content user-friendly and in this case, media friendly.

Keep the content for the website standardized. Be consistent and always accurate with the information you use. Use a specific style for the entire site with short paragraphs and use bullets whenever possible to highlight the desired information.

Avoid using the home page as the focus of the site if you are selling a specific product on another page. Use the product page as the landing page for the links used to the site so the customers have instant access to the information versus needing to search the website for the desired information. This is one way of making the site user-friendly.

Avoid using too much media on the site, this is overwhelming to some people and will chase them off causing you to lose a potential customer. Using too much media will also take from the written content. Leave special page for the media so the site visitor can use the page at their own discretion.

Try to cultivate a personal style for the site and media. Use your own personal style to add a flare to the media and content. Use sensible things on the site that will gain the interest of the visitors while also providing critical information.

When using media kits on the website, think about how the information will be interpreted so you do not offend anyone instead of gaining their interest and respect. There are many different means of media to improve your site that you can use as a plug-in through your web host or as an added feature. Find the right type of media feature such as videos to provide information and entertainment for your site and you should get more web traffic.
