How long have you been doing crunches, hoping to develop that envious set of 6 pack abs? How many different types of exercise have you tried to achieve this elusive aim? If you’ve been at it for more than 12 weeks, but have yet to see any real results, you need to change your approach. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome is the definition of insanity!

One of the main reasons you may not being seeing the fruits of your efforts is simply because there is a nice layer of fat sitting on top of your chiselled abs. In fact worst than that is the possibility that your abs underneath the fat are further pushing out your stomach, giving the you the opposite look that you’re striving for.

Focussing on doing some abs exercises will certainly lower your fat levels, but evidence suggests that it may not be low enough to show the abs that are hiding just underneath the fat. Experts agree that for men you need to get your overall body fat percentage into single digits. For women you should aim for somewhere between 13-18% for the best results. Getting to those sexy abs is not as hard as it sounds.

I hope you can see that you can do everything right for toning into your six pack abs but have no or little success in achieving your goals as a result of focussing in the wrong areas. In order to truly succeed you’ll need to combine a group of activities including diet and exercise for the specific purpose of getting your fat levels (and not necessary weight) in a downward direction.
